WSJ Manga and their Protagonists

Image
-One Piece like its protagonist is extensive, flexible and confident. Capable of a variety of feats and is usually very impressive. -NARUTO like its protagonist has a firm understanding of how hard life can be and is determined work through it with you. -BLEACH like its protagonist is admittedly cool but doesn't have much ambition and is only interested in doing so much. -Black Clover like its protagonist is obnoxious and kinda suck but its gonna be successful through sheer effort alone, and that's admirable. -Food Wars like its protagonist has a lot of bravado and loves showing off. Really enjoys being outlandish. -My Hero Academia like its protagonist is earnest and emotional. -Death Note like it's protagonist is cold and calculating but also arrogant; which depending on your point of view, led to its end. -Gintama like its protagonist seems laidback at first but really knows how to throwdown without holding back. -Yu Yu Hakusho like its protagoni...

30 Day Anime Challenge

Image
I've had this blog for awhile but I've completely forgotten to use it. Now that I'm more passionate and confident about my writing I think I'm ready to start blogging as a hobby. Today I'm going to begin the annual 30 Day Anime Challenge. I've been doing it for two years on my Facebook  page but now I'm going to write my answers here on Blogger.

Guest Speaker: Sinclair Williams Jr.

Today in Intro to Mass Comm, we met Sinclair Williams Jr as our guest speaker  as part of the Motivational Task Force (MTF) Program. The MTF Program features v olunteers from both public and private sectors engage students about their future career plans and inform them about their opportunities. Volunteers further describe the challenges and the steps taken to overcome them in their personal career development.   Now onto our Speaker. Mr. Williams graduated North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor's degree in English. He is the minister of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Greer, South Carolina and a counselor. Sinclair has had a lot of work experience in different jobs but the one that stood out to me the most was his time a motivational speaker. I was always open to the idea of being a motivational speaker so Sinclair immediately had my full attention. I asked about 5-6 to six questions about his work as a motivational speaker and he gave very thorough responses. ...
Guest Speaker: Maya Jackson I forgot to mention  in my earlier blog that we had a second guest speaker in Intro to Mass Comm. Her name was Maya Jackson and she was an alumni of our North Carolina Central University. When Jackson began speaking I thought I would have a hard time relating to her. While we both had a hard time deciding what careers we wanted her reasons were vastly different from mine. I had no interest but she had too many interests. Maya Jackson was part of almost everything in high school. She was part of the school band, a member of various clubs, and state champion in track and field. As a student athlete she got to attend NC A&T and UNC Wilmington on scholarships. The majors Jackson took up included Political Science and Afro-American studies. She described herself as getting "bored" with those and even dropping out of school at one point. However, she would later attend NCCU and establish the school's first Hip-Hop initiative. Jackson would late...
Guest Speaker: Pam Saulsby Today in Intro to Mass Comm, Emmy award winning journalist Pam Saulsby, came to our class to discuss her career and offer advice to the students about the field of Broadcast Journalism. Saulsby has spent thirty years on television as a news anchor. Out of those thirty years, twenty of them were spent in Raleigh, North Carolina for WRAL-TV.  After spending so much time in that field of work, Saulsby would fall into the routine of adhering to schedules and appointments. This led to the first lesson she taught the class: Time is everything. From the amount spent in the make up room to the amount that goes in the story; time management means everything in broadcast journalism. I felt this was the most important lesson she taught the class but what really stood out was her story about the golf tournament. Saulsby's news station was getting ready for a golf tournament and they three employees to represent them. The news station would select three white...
Corin Hemphill Entry #1 9/11/2014 Why am I taking this course? I could keep it short and sweet and just say this is a required class for my major; but to be honest I did purposefully choose Intro to Mass Comm.  I am a Mass Communications major who has no idea what to concentrate in. I chose this major so I could take German, theater, political science, and only have two math classes for freshman year and none after. I was a student who chose a major with no intention of doing anything with it. How am I supposed to apply what I learn to my future, if I know nothing if my field? This is the very first blog entry I have ever made. It is a new experience and I'm positive that I'll continue to use it after this semester. The purpose of a blog is for a person to share their thoughts and opinions on various subjects. It's safe to assume that using a blog will get my feet wet for any journalism I plan to do in the future. I can take full advantage of my assigned blog entries...
