Day 14 - Anime that never gets old no matter how many times you've rewatched it
B Gata H Kei: Yamada's First time
B Gata H Kei was just supposed to be some lame harem ecchi I'd watch on Netflix to kill time on Winter Break. Now it sits firmly on my anime shelf. I love this show, I adore this show, I smile just thinking about it. If I were to rank all the anime I watched by how much by enjoyment it would easily break top 50 and maybe even top 25.
Dont judge a book by its cover or in this case and anime by its promotional image. I saw a bunch of high schools and assumed it was about milquetoast protagonist getting chased by them. I'm so glad I was wrong.
Within 5 minutes of watching the show I learn how wrong my assumptions were. The protagonist who I thought would be some painfully average high school boy is actually popular, beautiful girl whose goal is to have sex with 100 guys.
The show is gut busting funny. Yamada is so so confused about her hormones and the way she acts and speaks on her desires brings a lot out of the other characters. Specifically her best friend Takeshita who has snark and sarcasm as well as Kosuda who is easily overwhelmed by Yamada. In the lame harem show I thought this was going to be Kosuda would be the protagonist. But he plays a different role as the guy you look at and "think how'd he get with her?".
The reason the comedy and the romance in this anime is so good is because a ridiculously hot chick who can(and wanted to) have any guy in the school is trying to hit it and quit it with this plane Jane but ends up falling in love with him. It's so cute and funny how hard Yamada tries to get Kosuda and vice versa. Watching her fail to seduce him, watching him chicken, watching either of them take initiative, and watching them misunderstand each other, it all builds up to a satisfying romance. So even though Yamada doesn't try to bang 100 dudes like the premise states she gets something much better and so did I as a viewer.
